There are two blinds that need to be posted; the small blind and the big blind. The small blind is the first player to the left of the dealer button. The player to his left and two seats to the left of the dealer button is the big blind. After the blinds have been posted, the dealer will give each player 2 cards, one at a time, starting with the small blind and moving clockwise around the table. After the cards have been dealt the first betting round will begin. The betting action starts with the player to the immediate left of the big blind, also known as the player under-the-gun or UTG.
